About My Advocacy Work

Guidance and resources shaped by lived experience of navigating the UK SEND system as a parent.

Based in the UK • Focused on SEND processes, education systems, and safeguarding frameworks.

Advocating for a child within the UK education system can sometimes feel overwhelming.

Parents are often expected to understand complex processes that were never properly explained. Meetings with professionals, reports that affect important decisions, deadlines that carry real consequences.

When the system is unclear, parents can easily feel unsure of what to do next.

My work in this area grew from lived experience as a SEND parent navigating those systems myself.

Over time I developed a deep interest in how education processes, safeguarding frameworks, and children’s rights operate within the UK.

This page simply explains why this work exists and how the resources in this hub came to be.

Why I Do This Work

My advocacy work is shaped by real experience.

Navigating SEND processes can bring a heavy mix of paperwork, meetings, deadlines, and conflicting advice. Parents often find themselves trying to understand systems that were never clearly explained to them.

Behind the formal language and policies are real families trying to make sure their child receives the support they need.

I understand how easily parents can feel dismissed, overwhelmed, or unsure how to respond when decisions affect their child’s education or wellbeing.

Over time I began studying the structure behind these systems more closely, including SEND processes, safeguarding frameworks, and children’s rights within the UK education system.

That learning, combined with lived experience, shaped the resources you now find in this hub.

How I Support Parents

The aim of this work is to bring clarity to situations that often feel confusing or intimidating.

The resources in this hub focus on helping parents:

  • understand SEND and education processes more clearly
  • organise concerns in a structured way
  • communicate calmly and confidently with schools and professionals
  • prepare for meetings and important conversations
  • document events and build clear records when concerns arise

Everything is written in plain English.

The goal is not to overwhelm parents with legal language or technical explanations. The goal is to make the system easier to understand so parents can approach situations with clarity and confidence.

The Approach Behind These Resources

The approach behind this work is simple.

  • Clear explanations instead of jargon
  • Practical tools instead of vague advice
  • Structure instead of confusion

Many advocacy situations improve when communication becomes clearer and documentation becomes stronger.

That is why much of this hub focuses on guides, templates, and structured resources parents can use in real situations.

A Note on Scope

The Parent Advocacy Hub provides educational guidance, templates, and practical resources.

It does not provide legal advice.

This platform does not:

  • represent parents in court or tribunal
  • act as a legal representative
  • contact schools, councils, or professionals on behalf of parents
  • provide legal opinions or legal advice
  • carry out reserved legal activities under UK law

Parents remain responsible for decisions and actions they take.

For complex or urgent situations, advice from a qualified solicitor or legal professional may be appropriate.
